Staying in Control While Playing at Rollxo — Our Experience with the Safety Tools
We tested every responsible gambling tool Rollxo offers — deposit limits, loss limits, session reminders, reality check and self-exclusion. Here's what worked, what was easy to find, and what we think players should know before they start.
What Happened When We Tested Rollxo's Limit-Setting Tools
Responsible gambling tools are only useful if they're easy to find, quick to activate, and actually enforced. We tested all of them during our 30-day testing period — not as a formality, but as a genuine evaluation of whether they work under real conditions.
The responsible gambling panel is found under Account → Responsible Gambling. It loads immediately with no additional navigation steps — a good sign. Some casinos bury these controls three menus deep, which discourages use at the moments when they matter most. Rollxo puts them one level below the account menu.
Deposit limits — We set a AU$100 daily deposit limit on Day 1. On our next deposit attempt (AU$150), the cashier rejected the excess and allowed only AU$100. The enforcement was immediate and accurate. Reducing the limit takes effect instantly; increasing a limit applies a 24-hour cooling-off delay before it activates. That asymmetry — instant reductions, delayed increases — is the correct design and mirrors the approach of better-regulated jurisdictions.
Loss limits — We set a AU$50 daily loss limit on a secondary test account. After reaching AU$50 in net losses during a session, the account was locked from further real-money play for the remainder of the calendar day. The session ended cleanly — mid-spin the game completed, then further play was blocked with an on-screen message explaining the limit had been reached. No funds were lost beyond the set limit.
Session time reminders — We configured a 60-minute reminder. At the 60-minute mark a non-intrusive overlay appeared in-game with a session duration display and two options: continue or take a break. It did not force an end to the session — it surfaces the information and lets the player decide. We consider this the right balance: informed choice rather than forced interruption.
Reality check — Available on demand via the account menu. Displays a running balance summary: session start balance, current balance, net session result, and session duration. Accurate and updated in real-time. Useful for players who want an objective view of how a session is actually going rather than the subjective feel of it.
- Deposit limits: enforce instantly, reductions immediate, increases delayed 24 hours
- Loss limits: enforce at threshold, session ends cleanly after current spin
- Session reminders: configurable in 30-minute increments, non-intrusive overlay
- Reality check: on-demand balance summary, accurate and real-time
- All tools accessible under Account → Responsible Gambling
Self-Exclusion Test: What the Process Looked Like
We tested a 24-hour self-exclusion on a secondary test account. The self-exclusion option is in the same Responsible Gambling panel as the limit tools. Options available: 24 hours, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, and permanent.
We selected 24 hours and confirmed. A confirmation dialogue appeared asking us to acknowledge that the exclusion would take effect immediately and could not be reversed during the selected period. We confirmed. Within three minutes, the account was inaccessible — login returned a "Your account is temporarily excluded" message with the exclusion end time displayed.
After the 24-hour period, the account did not auto-reactivate for play. There was a reactivation step required — a deliberate friction that prevents players from immediately gambling after an exclusion expires without a moment of intentional re-commitment. We consider this a positive design choice.
For longer exclusion periods, Rollxo's T&Cs indicate that permanent exclusion requires a support contact to initiate (rather than a self-serve toggle) — likely to ensure the request is understood and documented. Players seeking permanent exclusion should contact live chat directly and request it explicitly.
Australian players who want a broader exclusion across multiple operators should register with BetStop — the national self-exclusion register operated by ACMA (the Australian Communications and Media Authority). BetStop excludes you from all Australian-licensed interactive wagering services simultaneously. Note that offshore operators like Rollxo are not currently covered by BetStop, as it applies to ACMA-licensed services only.
Warning Signs We Think Players Should Know
Gambling stops being entertainment when it starts affecting other areas of your life. These signs can emerge gradually — which makes them easy to rationalise in the moment.
- Chasing losses: Depositing more to recover what you've lost in a session. The defining feature is that the deposit decision is driven by the previous loss, not by a calm choice to play. This pattern escalates quickly.
- Increasing bets after losses: Raising stake sizes to recoup losses faster. High-volatility play during emotional states produces the worst outcomes and the fastest bankroll depletion.
- Hiding play from people close to you: If you'd feel uncomfortable telling someone you trust how much you played or spent, that discomfort is information worth acting on.
- Borrowing to fund gambling: Using credit cards, personal loans or money borrowed from friends or family to deposit. No winning streak is reliably large enough to justify this risk.
- Gambling affecting sleep, work or relationships: Staying up late to play, missing commitments due to a session, or feeling irritable or distracted when not playing are signals that the activity has moved beyond entertainment.
- Feeling unable to stop during a session: The tools at Rollxo — session reminders, loss limits — are designed precisely for this moment. If the thought "I'll just play one more spin" repeats for longer than you intended, use the tools or close the session.
- Gambling to escape problems: Using play to avoid stress, anxiety, relationship issues or financial pressure. The relief is temporary; the problems and the gambling balance remain.
None of these signs mean a problem is irreversible. They're early indicators, and early action produces the best outcomes. The resources below are for players at any stage — from "I want to think about this" to "I need help now."

Resources for Getting Help
Beyond the phone lines, these organisations provide structured support programs, self-help tools and face-to-face services across Australia:
- Gambling Help Online (gamblinghelponline.org.au): Online chat, self-assessment tools, a self-help program, and a directory of local face-to-face counselling services by postcode. The self-assessment takes about five minutes and provides a private, personalised feedback summary.
- BetStop (betstop.gov.au): Australia's National Self-Exclusion Register. Registering with BetStop excludes you from all Australian-licensed interactive wagering services — online sports betting, racing and other wagering products — in one step. Registration is free and can be done online. As noted above, offshore casino operators are not currently covered by BetStop.
- Gamblers Anonymous (ga.org.au): Peer-support program modelled on the 12-step recovery framework. Face-to-face meetings across major Australian cities and regional centres, plus online meeting options. Relevant for players who have found individual counselling insufficient or who benefit from group support.
- MensLine Australia — 1300 78 99 78: Free telephone and online counselling for men, available 24/7. Relevant when gambling is connected to relationship breakdown, family stress or other issues men are statistically less likely to seek help for.
- Kids Helpline — 1800 55 1800: Free, confidential counselling for young people aged 5–25. Relevant if a young person in your household is affected by problem gambling in the family, or if you are concerned about a young person's own gambling behaviour.
Gambling is designed to be enjoyable. For most people, it stays that way. The tools and resources above exist for the moments when it doesn't — and using them is a sign of good judgement, not weakness.
